Earlier in the year, we talked about the enhancements that were part of SAP S/4HANA public cloud edition 2302 and as the benefits of these new features became part of the experience we provide to our customers, it is time now to highlight the benefits of the new edition, 2308. In this blog, we will list down the highlights of the latest product release of SAP S/4HANA public cloud.

Processes will become more intelligent as the top three most intelligent cases in SAP S/4HANA cloud public edition indicate. The first one is the fincash account receivable case in SAP Cash Application followed by Predicted Delivery Date and Sales Performance Prediction in the Sales and Distribution module.
Key highlights apart from intelligent ERP include an enhanced user experience to make daily life in business more seamless and efficient – with Spaces and Pages – new visualization and layout on SAP Fiori making use of applications intuitive, organized and approachable. While ‘my home’ is the default entry way into the system, this 2308 release of SAP S/4HANA cloud public edition ships with it several enhancements that include amongst many, colour-coding feature to indicate the type of system, new and personalized navigation bar, drag and drop feature for apps and custom news display.
The new SAP S/4HANA public cloud edition is certainly more collaborative making day-to-day business collaboration more effective with ‘Share as Tab’ that allows faster decision making by enabling sharing of business data easily. Business users can switch from SAP Fiori apps to Microsoft Team easily and share information in channels, groups and chats through ‘tabs’.

The top three finance innovations in the 2308 release update include improved features for managing journal entries by delivering a better user experience in the Managed Journal Entries app. Then comes the new account balance validation with automated supervision of closing tasks. Accountants need to validate account balances on various financial positions to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance during the financial closing. By running preventative validations before closing tasks, this product update helps to greatly reduce manual efforts and accelerates the closing process.
Last but not the least, there are enhancements in SAP S/4HANA public cloud 2308 for advanced payment management such as ‘withholding taxes’ – that allow the calculation of interest subject to withholding taxes depending on local legal requirements. Automated calculation of transaction or account-based fees are now supported and payment processing covers the forwarding of bank statements to connected affiliates.

The key highlights in sales that ships with the 2308 release of SAP S/4HANA cloud public edition include improvements in role-based access to price elements in billing process documents. The harmonized document management for attachments in billing process documents benefits business users with a more automated and configurable attachment handling – spanning billing document request to final invoice. This update enables business users with more flexibility in attachment handling during the end-to-end billing process, saving manual effort and time.
The new release of SAP S/4HANA public cloud brings with it the advanced Available to Promise (ATP) capability – a critical part of the delivery process – and extends the managed sales order SAP Fiori app to check product availability for single items. Business users can also adjust confirmed delivery dates and quantity, and fix items to prevent sequential changes. Another important update is using the credit memo request in the complaint process to request credit. With the new SAP Fiori app – managed credit memo request, you can directly create credit memo request without referencing a document.
Supply chain in SAP S/4HANA public cloud 2308
Supply chain innovations part of the 2308 release of SAP S/4HANA public cloud include loading meters in transportation management used as a calculation unit for goods that need to be transported but cannot be stacked. Business users can calculate transportation demand, freight cost calculation, and capacities or utilization, simplifying the transportation process.
In warehouse management, with wave management feature, users can group warehouse tasks by combining warehouse request items, file upon deliveries into waves and split warehouse request items from one wave to another. All of these tasks are possible in a cost-efficient manner, making labour utilization easy. Additional features include composite barcode scanning in inventory management, based on the international GS1 standard, offering a standardized way to meet the supply chain needs of your business and making daily operations in inventory management seamless.
